Though the East Village is part of the traditional Lower East Side, the district has developed its own identity over the last half century as an epicenter of radical arts and activism in America. However -- the neighborhood's counterculture dates way back to the the 19th century when socialism, communism, and anarchism were taking root here, reshaping the political and cultural landscape of the country.

On this tour, we will explore 150+ years of unconventional ideals which forged the East Village's unique identity.
